About the Photographer

Self Portrait Photography was a great adventure that began in December 2002 with the coming of my first digital camera, a Canon PowerShot A40. Prior to this I wouldn't have even dreamed of making a photo. Cameras and film were a science that I was aware of, but something I was not keen to get involved with.

Eventually I realized there were so many beautiful scenes I could remember that were never recorded on paper. Since I can't draw, my only option was to take up photography.

Since that day I've taken numerous amateur photographs, and my camera has accompanied me on a number of vacations. The camera setup itself has undergone many changes and I have been increasingly involved with film and vintage cameras, things that I previously would not have touched.

Much as I know that photography should be about the images and not the equipment, I'd honestly admit that this hobby has given me the best of both worlds: a dive into a universe of artistry and a leap into a world of gadgets. Photography has also given me much else to do when not involved in my profession as a veterinary surgeon.

I've attempted to select several favorites from various genres to feature them on this website. Every image is accompanied by a personal comment and a little technical information, which I hope would better describe the photo and how it was made. As I progress in this hobby and make more salient images, they will be added to this online portfolio.

While the photos themselves are not of a high standard, and neither is the quality of this webpage, it is hoped that you will enjoy viewing them as much as I've enjoyed putting them together for you. Thank you for taking the time to view these images.
