The darkness descends
and falls, shattering the purity
of glass
He sees, and looks into the world
turning his eyes down from the clouds
that rain life, and skies
that tell of the heavens
He turns his gaze down
into the dirt
and sees not the sun
but the shadows
And his vision grows dim,
until he sees only shadows
and shadows of shadows
until he is convinced that the shadows
Are light
(and the Light
is blinding darkness)
