John Byrne-style Fantastic Four
The Toybiz FF box set was done in a cartoony style which did not suit the rest of the Marvel Legends line. The task was to sculpt new heads for the group to make them blend in with the rest of ML.
Three were done in John Byrne's style: Reed, Johnny and Ben. I initially sculpted Sue in this style as well but decided that his way of rendering women does not look good in 3D, especially in combination with the others. The large eyes make Sue look cartoony and bring back the original problem.
I decided on a more classic look for Sue. It ended up being my favorite of the bunch (but was disappointed that the photograph did not do her justice).
The version of Johnny Storm that I'm keeping is the mid-transformation one; someone else is getting the non-flamed version. The picture of the non-flamed Johnny here is not the final version but a mock-up. Click the links below for close-up shots.
