On my first trip to the Singapore Zoo, I returned with some photos, but these were mostly animal portraits. This time, I wanted something different. Fortunately I arrived at the lion enclosure a short period before feeding time, and the captive pride was beginning to stir from a long afternoon slumber.
A lioness approached the lion and began to nuzzle him affectionately. He in turn responded by licking her face. To cut out the clutter of the enclosure and obtain a less distracting background, I used a long focal length lens to achieve a tight crop of the two animals.
