Erika Pray wearing her master's style Championship Lioness Fur Winner's Jacket, holds her Mini-Sota Mini Pole Hole 1st place trophy
This 27 hole disc golf course is located in Lions Wilderness Park in Farmington, NM.  See  directions to the course.  The scorecards /maps are at 1-18 and  1-27 .  The 1st 9 holes were concieved and designed by George Sharpe, Roger Drayer, T. Greg Merrion,  Mike Rutledge MD, and the Student Council of Piedra Vista High School.  The front 9 is easier than average courses around the country, with gold advanced tee box signs and green beginner tee box signs.  The 1st 10 baskets and signs(including a practice basket) were bought with donations from local businesses and families, and installed by Parks & Rec.  It became so popular that the City put money on their budget to buy the baskets and signs for 10-18.  This more difficult 2nd nine holes was designed by Mike Rutledge MD and his son Zach Rutledge, is harder than average, and has only one gold tee box sign per hole, with different pars for beginners and advanced on most holes.  Check out the list of hole names and sponsors. Holes 19-27 are the most difficult and were designed and built by Mike Rutledge MD and PDGA pro Jeff Hellman, with help from Zach Rutledge and Craig Lozier.
Zach Rutledge (Doc's oldest son) held the course record with 11 under par for over 3 years but was finally beat in oct 05 by Jon Calm of Farmington  with a 13 under.  Come and try to beat Jon's record and enjoy our city's beautiful and unique disc golf course!
We recently had our 3rd Annual Lions Den Shootout (see the
flyer ).   We had a good turnout, with guys and girls, skills ranging from pro to beginner.  Money from the tournament will help buy baskets for 19-27.  The winners for the men and womens categories got custom-made "Masters Style" jackets (designed and created by Mike Rutledge MD) and the top 3 in each category got cash prizes and trophies.  The City of Farmington Parks and Rec Dept. held their 1st tourney in oct 04 and Shawn Lyle of Parks and Rec is planning another for June 3, 2006.  They gave out cool t-shirts and prizes at their last one.   Join our free disc golf club and also join our free yahoo disc golf email group by going to join LionsDenDiscGolf yahoo email group.  Other favorite links: New Mexico Disc Golf Club , Durango Disc Golf , Gottagogottathrow , Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) , Cortez Colorado Disc Golf
