"I remember, many years ago, on a very cold winter day, watching
some figure skaters performing at Toronto's Harbourfront. There was a little guy there who skated with great enthusiam and, oh boy, was he ever a good spinner! This little guy was Elvis. The memory of his skating, his great joy and enthusiam, are still very vivid in my mind. I believe that memory was an inspiration to me to follow Elvis' wonderful career."

| Elvis was always someone who caught my attention but it wasn't until the 1998 Canadian Championships that I really stood up and took notice. When he stepped onto the ice and started his LION program, I can honestly say that the guy totally blew me away! That program has been my absolute favorite ever since. Not just because of it's intensity, incredible footwork and technical difficulty but also because it was the program that resulted in my decision to follow Elvis' amazing career much more closely. I am so glad that I did! | ![]() |
| Although it has been in an indirect way, Elvis has added to my life in a way that is difficult for anyone who isn't a fan to completely understand. I truly believe that I "discovered" him at a time in my life when I really needed too -- not before, not after. His personal philosophies, down-to-earth attitude, courage and integrity are what make him the very special person that he is. He is the epitome of a true champion and is a wonderful inspiration. His heart is made of gold! Hats off to Irene and Steve!!! |
| I first had the opportunity to see Elvis skate live in November, 1998 when I flew to Halifax, Nova Scotia to see his Canon Elvis tour. The entire experience was a very emotional one for me. Firstly, I couldn't believe that I was even there at all. Secondly, I found it very overwhelming to actually see him in person. Actually seeing the man that has had such a strong and positive impact on your life can be quite the experience! To put in bluntly, it was one of the best experiences of my life. |
| I had the priviledge of seeing him live again when he visited Mount Pearl, Newfoundland on November 21, 1999. As always, his skating and presence was amazing. He said that he would come back and I'm definitely looking forward to that. |

Speaking of Mount Pearl....This city has a street that bears Elvis' name.
Stojko Place was named for Elvis in 1995 by the Mount Pearl City Council. It's located near Mount Pearl's newest arena -- The Glacier.
Those guys on the Mount Pearl City Council....they know a great thing when they see it!!!" |
