Leaves of the Branchless Tree
Drift away on top of the endless ocean
The current and winds pushing you fowards
backwards and to the sides all the same
On top of your raft you listen
Do you hear the whispers of silence?
Look out to the body of water and tell me what you see
There is just the silence of the ocean
beating rythmically as a heart.
Plunge your hand into the water
Grasp the silence!
Do you feel it trying to bury itself into your fist?!
Throw it onto the logs and watch it flip like a beached fish
Notice your veins
Do you feel the pain of the endless stream of tears
Crushing your hand and grasping your forearm.
Do you feel the silence pulling you into the water?
Can you taste the silence of your screams as it evaporates under the flameless sun?!
Your breaths bubble and rise to the surface
awaiting their liberation from the prison.
They pop and silence is released
Calmness of the bubbles rising
The silence of your screams
And the whispers of silence into your ears
Do you know it doesn't exist?
Falling, drifting, lifeless, blinding, bottomless presure of the deep blue ocean crushing your head.
More real then you can even comprehend
Can you feel the edges of the sword?
Do you see the darkness of space and the leaves of the branchless tree?
Can you taste the poison in the fruit?
and the assassin's tainted wine?
Read your books in the classroom
and read this poem.
Hear the words and be drowned in them
Feel the tears drip into your veins through the I.V.
Feel the silence in your heart and the colorless blood
Look into the mirror and stab your eyes
Hear yourself scream loud enough to def your ears
Caress your spinal cord and snap it in two and be paralyzed
Smell the perfumes of your sweat and smell the hot coals to seal your nassal passages
Taste your soul and cut off your tongue
And know that the tree is branchless
And knows no sight, no touch, no smell, no ears
And knows no lies!
