The Silvanic Tradition of Strega

Beliefs and Practices

Celebrates the eight Sabbats and both New and Full Moons. The Silvanic Tradition has roots in Italo-Etruscan Witchcraft and Roman Paganism. Spirituality conforms to guidelines set by pre-Christian elders and the teachings of both Diana and Aradia. Seeks balance via relationship with the God and Goddess. Nature is our greatest teacher, and the Universe empowers us. Weekly classes are also taught for the following groups: inner court, outer court, and apprentices. Groves meet for sabbats, full moons, dark moons, rites of passage/community, and as needed for support/healing/magick/fellowship. Seekers are welcome.

Distinctive Features

The Silvani have more than three degrees in their system. After attaining high priest(ess) status, an individual can continue along 3 different paths each offering additional degrees. One is the Nature path, one is the Ceremonial path, and one is the Warrior path (of course there are Italian names for these used in the tradition).

Region of Origination

The Silvanic Tradition is actually a synthesis of two clans (and their traditions) coming together via a marriage. One clan is from Sicily near Messina, and the other is from Florence.

New Students

Generally, students study about a year prior to dedication. This is because it is our belief that an individual must be deeply acquainted with a coven/tradition/pantheon before making vows to it/them. After dedication, a student may begin working towards first degree initiation. This takes at least a year, generally 2 - 3.
