As days passed, Larani occaisionally peeked into the guest cave to see what these strangers were up to.  They weren't ever social, and they always seemed to be rehearsing some kind of battle plan.  This made Larani very worried. She often paced up and down Pride Rock, thinking.  Over the next few weeks, a terrible drought came upon the Pride Lands, and Mwangka's Pride was definately not willing to conserve water and food. In fact, they took the Pride Landers' food and water supply when theirs was used up.  When the water hole dried up, the Pride was forced to dig in the mud until they reached a few mouthfuls of water.
One day, Larani was pacing again. She wasn't sure what to think.
They have battle plans. They're water and foodhogs. But one thing I do know. They're baaaaaad news.
Larani lay down, just as Nala padded up behind her.
"Is something wrong, Larani?" Nala asked.  Larani lifted her head, then sighed.
"It's this pride. They look so familiar, yet I don't
think I've seen them before," she started. "Also, they aren't grateful that we took them in. They always insist on feeding their pride with the meat that we caught! I think my father should send them away...but I don't know how to tell him."
  Nala thought a while.
"Well, if they do something really bad, like try to kill someone, then tell Kovu about it right away. They look like the type to do so. I would watch them very closely," she said. "They could be planning an attack."
Larani smiled weakly.
"Okay,"she said. Nala nuzzled her, then got up and walked away. Suddenly Larani got an idea. She bounded to the top of Pride Rock, known as the Upper Resting Area. Larani found Niran napping next to his grand-mother, Amber-Savannah, and Amber's friend Hurana.
"Nir'! Wake up!" Larani whispered into his ear. Niran half-opened his eyes and Larani continued,
"That pride! They might be bad! We have to spy on them!"
Niran got up and stretched.
"Who says that?" he said, uninterested.  He always thought spying was a cubby game.
"Nala! That's who!" Larani almost shouted. She ran past Niran and tugged his tail. "Now c'mon! Let's go!"
Niran sighed, but he trotted down from the Upper Resting Area with Larani.  They went around to the back of Pride Rock, and stopped dead in their tracks. A young adult lion, Kamaele, was attacking Simba! Niran and Larani pounced. Kamaele gave Simba a deep gash on the leg. Larani and Kamaele wrestled for a while, and then Kamaele pushed her to the ground. Niran struck him on the head, and Kamaele fell on Larani. Larani kicked up with her powerful hind paws and flipped Kamaele ove the edge of Pride Rock. He ended up landing in a mud pit.
  "I
have to tell Father!" Larani said worriedly. Nir', you stay and help Simba. I'll find the est of our Pride." Larani scanned the plains. Then she spotted them and raced toward them.  Larani found Kamila, with her pride, lecturing Kiara and her hunting party about not bringing back any meat for them.

"There's [breath] nothing [breath] left!" Kiara said exhaustedly.  Larani ran up to her.
"Mother! Where's father? I need to tell him something."
"He's [breath] teaching Mtwali how [breath] to hunt," Kiara replied.
"Thanks!" Larani said. Then she whispered, "Mother, you should go back to Pride Rock now, 'cause Simba's hurt!"
"ALL YOU SO-CALLED 'ROYALTY'!" Kamila roared. Larani gasped. That's why they looked do familiar. This was Kovu's father Mwangka's pride! Larani ran to where Kovu and Mtwali were.
"Father! Father!" she called. "That pride that came here must leave
now! This is Mwangka and Kamila's Pride! One lion attacked and hurt Simba today!"
Kovu, Larani, and Mtwali raced toward Pride Rock. When they got there, Aleiri was there with Nala. Their faces were sad and tear stained.
"He's dead," Nala said, and burst into tears. Larani ran to comfort her. Aleiri walked over to Simba's body.
"He apparently suffered severe bites on the head and chest..." she started. When the rest of the Pride got back, it was a time of great mourning. Kovu gathered up his courage and stalked to the guest cave with Larani close behind.
"KAMILA!" he shouted. "I've had enough! I order you to leave the Pride Lands
now!"
"Ah, ha ha!" Kamila laughed. "Try and make us leave."  Kovu frowned. Suddenly Kamila yelled, "ATTACK!!!!" and all of her lionesses jumped on Kovu and dragged him, in a daze and shock, to the back of the cave. Larani peeked inside and gasped. She had to do something. So, she roared what was called a Battle Roar. But Mwangka heard her and growled.
"I'll get you, Pride Lander!" he said, and chased her to the edge of Pride Rock. "There is no escape, Pride Lander. Defy your father's leadership or die."
"Never!" Larani shouted, as lightning struck. Startled, Larani lost her balance and fell. As fire burned around Pride Rock, Larani held on only by her front paws, and the Pride Landers were having a huge battle with the Wanderers.  Suddenly Mwangka heard a roar behind him. It was Savanna, Mtwali, and Niran.
"Mtwali! Help me here!" Mwangka yelled as Savanna and Niran attacked Mwangka.
"You know, come to think of it, I never really liked you," Mtwali said coolly.
