LION RAMPANT ACCORDION BAND

We have entered 2004, and The Lion Rampant Accordion Band is marching into its 26th year.

We are from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. We have a marching unit of 30, ranging in
age from 6 to over 65, and pride ourselves in being a family oriented band. We play button-keyed accordions, which are also known as Irish Marching Accordions. We have a percussion section as well as a small colour party.

The name of the Band is chosen after the Scottish Lion Rampant Flag. Our colour scheme incuding the banner, uniforms and crests are all a reflection of this yellow flag with the red lion. The Band is completely self-supporting and we are all volunteers.

Our marching unit is quite unique and rare being that there are very few marching accordion bands in North America; only 3 in Canada. We are therefore in constant demand and have participated at Fairs, Festivals and Special Events throughout Ontario, Canada, and the United States of America. We march ten months of the year starting with St. Patrick's Day Parades in March and ending with Christmas Parades in December.

In 1998 the Band began marching with a Radio Frequency Sound System to enhance the sound by increasing and controling our volume. The transmitters in our accordions send the signals to the receivers and then out the through the speakers. This is all pushed down the street on a specially designed sound cart on wheels. We are the only known Marching Band utilizing such a sound system.

The Band has participated in over 400 Parades. Our Band Director, Harold Cromwell shares with you just a few of the numerous awards and trophies we have won over the years.
