| EVE HALL "It Doesn't Matter"" Your skin color is different than mine, what does it matter? Your hair is blonde, my hair is black. Your eyes are blue, my eyes are brown. Your shoulders are broad, my hips are wide. Your lips are small, my lips are full. Your heart beats, my heart skips a beat. Your love is unconditional, Mine is too. "Resolutions" Another year has come and gone We make goals for ourselves, goals we do not keep Just who do we think we are fooling? Lying to ourselves, to make ourselves look good Saying things like, "I plan to lose weight" "I will not stay out so late" "I will save more money, and spend less" "I will try not to make my life such a mess" "I will try to be peaceable and not always feel right" "I will admit to my wrongs and try not to fight" "I will try hard to live, not die" "I will try to be truthful and not lie" "I will try hard to love and not hate" "I will try hard to be early and not late." Why can't we resolve to do all these things...now Why wait until New Year's Day to make resolutions? return to submitted poetry return to home page |
