An Introduction
Not many days after, many timezones away, in an Islamic country, Indonesia, lies a tourist resort, Bali, a bomb went off and blasted to death many tourists, many Australians and Caucasians
As if these two was not enough, the Mastermind of Death and murder, even Satan himself, unleash his destructive power when many innocent lives were gased to death in Russia, ironically meant for the Chechnya rebels, the kidnappers.
His Mission is to Kill, Steal and Destroy. This Mastermind of Death, prowling around to seek whom he may devour, till one day the Real Lion - from the tribe of Judah will end his dominion.
Accused me if you want of an overactive imagination. But the month of opening and the design of this would be prestigous building is less than auspicious if not downright "Unlucky" to borrow a secular term.
Personally I feel it is a symbol of bad omen. Maybe for Singapore it being a National Icon of the Arts, if not the region
Therein however lies the Irony, to some to be complimented as like a Durian is an achievement, but on the opening day even the Nation's newspaper endearingly termed it the durian. It is played up so much that one begin to wonder is it trying to hide something more sinister or they really are durian lovers.
Something more Sinister. The impression I got as I drove passed Esplande one day in October, was that of the COMPOUND EYES OF THE FLY !.
A very big Fly has landed on Singapore. And it would not be so ironic if Esplande was not meant for Arts. The contrast of Arts with Flies or even durian is just distastful if not plain mockery.
Flies are generally found in places of rot, death and decay. Is this a symbol of our society ? for Art is it not the expression of the soul ?
