Nine Days was formed on Long Island by singer/songwriter/guitarists John Hampson and Brian Desveaux, who had previously played together and apart in a series of local groups. The group was filled out by keyboard player Jeremy Dean, bass player Nick Dimichino, and drummer Vinnie Tattanelli. Focusing on their songwriting and shared lead vocals, Hampson and Desveaux holed up in John's apartment in Deer Park woodshedding, then released their own debut album and began playing live shows. They won WBAB's Homegrown talent search, and WLIR's Best Unsigned band competition, made a second CD on their own and finally signed to Epic/550 Music, which released their debut major-label album, The Madding Crowd (it's title a comment on Thomas Hardy's novel Far from the Madding Crowd) in May 2000.
On stage, Nine Days compares to nobody else. They've played acoustic and really are enthusiastic about their music. Their music is rock/pop and really gets the crowd pumped. In situations of extreme pressure, they always pull through for their fans, even if that means playing acoustic. They try to meet and know every single fan out there and have been touring non-stop since they released The Madding Crowd.
Other than their three previous albums (Three, Something to Listen To, and Monday Songs) they've been playing a new song called "Beautiful" at their shows along with other cover tunes. They are also currently in the process of recording their next album, due out sometime next year. If you haven't had the priveldge of seeing this amazing band perform, I'd definetly recommend it!

"People respond to it immediately. Nobody's trying to attach something to it because, 'Hey, you have to do this or that because this is the way bands are marketed now.' Everybody seems to understand that these are just really good songs. They seem to feel-straight to the heart-what we're trying to put across"

~John Hampson, about the people who have welcomed Nine Days music so openly
