Red Hat Modem Notes for the Toshiba Satellite 175x

Modem Configuration

I built a new kernel module for the Lucent/Agere Winmodem with code from http://www.heby.de/ltmodem. These instructions were performed on an up-to-date Red Hat 8.0 system, but I believe they should work equally well with other distributions on this laptop.

Note: You must have the kernel sources and development tools installed to build the kernel module as described below

• Grab the ltmodem driver sources from http://www.sfu.ca/~cth/ltmodem/#sources
  (I used ltmodem-8.26a9.tar.gz on Red Hat 8.0 with updated kernel 2.4.18-19.8.0).
• tar zxvf [ltmodem_tarball_name]
• cd [ltmodem_dir_name]
• utils/ksp.sh
• ./build_rpm
• rpm -Uvh [ltmodem_rpm_name]
