| �Okay let�s start from last night. So I was just mucking around in my bedroom and then Michael showed up and stayed to watch this really scary film I had got anyway we turned the movie off when it got too scary so then we started to play fight.� �Play fight� Liz says in disbelief �Yeah that what I said Liz will you just let me finish the story� I frown �I am sorry it just Michael doesn�t seem like the type of guy to play fight� �Liz please will you let me finish. Anyway so then he pinned me and was just about to kiss me when Max came home. I mean he completely ruined the moment.� �So you and Michael. Didn�t you say that you and Michael could never be?� �Yeah well that was like yesterday and anyway�� the bell of the crashdown door interrupts what I am about to say and I turn to see Michael walk in and sit down in the usual booth. I feel the bats burst to life in my stomach. I quickly check myself in the mirror before walking over to him. �Hey� I flash him a smile and sit opposite to him �So�� we both speak at the same time, I laugh nervously and start to pick at my uniform letting him start �So I had a good time last night� he starts and I just nod not knowing what to say or do �I was wondering if we could do it again sometime�you know if you want too� �Are you asking me on a date?� I ask hopefully �No I mean no of course not. I meant we could hang out sometime maybe tonight or something as friends� he manages to get out in one go. Friends he only wanted to be friends. But what about when we nearly kissed last night maybe he thinks I am easy and that is why he doesn�t want to go out me. �Maria?� Michael pulls me out of my thoughts �What sorry?� I ask turning my attention back to him �So do you want to hang out when you finished work?� �Sure. I have nothing better to do� �Thanks a lot� �You�re welcome� �Hello can we get some serves around here� a blonde shouts from the counter and I plaster a fake smile on my face and go and take her order When I finally return to Michael�s table Max and Isabel have joined him �Hey guys whats up?� I smile at them �Hey Maria. We were just telling Michael about the meeting tonight� Max says �What meeting?� damn there goes my plans �When the crashdown is closed we are having a meeting� �About?� I ask �Just wait and see� was the only reply I got before I had to get back to work. �So that me get this right you let Liz go to the reservation by herself with a alien necklace?� I ask my brother after the crashdown had closed �He didn�t�� Liz tries to defend him god she has got it bad �Please Liz Max is a big boy he can defend him self� I tell her before looking back at my brother �Well yes but...� Max starts �Please Max let me finish. Now you telling us that we have to wait while you and Liz go and talk to this river dog about the necklace that Isabel found on Michael�s vision quest� I continue �Yeah but�� Max tries to speak �Please Max will you just let me finish. Ok I am finished� I say when I fail to think of anything else to say. �Well since Liz went she is the only one he will know and I going because�� �You want to make out on the way back� I put and both Max and Liz turn red with embarrassment. Max glares at me before continuing �I am going because it could be the answers we been searching for. So you, Michael and Isabel wait in the crashdown while we go to see river dog and then we come back and tell you what we find out� Max tells �The plan bites� Michael speaks up for the first time since the meeting had began �Michael the plan does not bite� Max sighs before getting up to leave �You three stay here and I tell you what I find out� Liz follows him leaving Michael and me alone. No wait Isabel here. Well a girl can dream can�t she? What I wouldn�t give to be able to get Isabel to disappear �I'm telling you, the plan sucks the big one, all right? They're out there on my vision quest, and I'm sitting here in the kitchen with two girls yakking.� Michael says after sitting in the crashdown for about half an hour �Interesting, um, Michael. You know, some women of the, uh, 20th century might find that last remark just a tad bit offensive.� I try to put as simply as possible since in seems like Michael is still living in the Stone Age �Why?� he asks with a frown and he actually looks like he does know �Why?� I repeat not knowing what else to say �Welcome to Michael-land� Isabel laughs. Michael glares at her before getting up and walking towards the counter. I watch him help his self to a piece of chocolate cake. �I hope you intend to pay for that.� I say to him when he sits back down �I do not� he tells me before drowning it in Tabasco sauce �Well, then that's theft buddy.� �Arrest me� Michael says and gives me a crooked smile �Will you wear the handcuffs?� oh yeah I could definitely picture Michael wearing just a pair of handcuffs and a smile chained to my bed. � It depends will you have a whip?� he asks before I could answer I hear Isabel groan �Are you two flirting? God, could my life get any worse? This is so not my idea of fun. I mean I could have been on a date or something but no I am stuck here with you two and I am being forced to watch you two flirt� Me and Michael exchange looks before laughing �Come on Isabel you see us do more then flirt� Michael says to her and I nearly choke on my laughter. �That is it I am out of here� Isabel practically runs out of the crashdown before I could even say goodbye. So Michael and me alone if he hadn�t bought up the kiss then there wouldn�t be this awkward silence. I look everywhere and anywhere as long as it wasn�t anything to do with Michael. My eyes come to rest on the clock. Max and Liz had been gone nearly two hours �This is taking too long. They're in trouble.� I am starting to get anxious �Cool your jets.� Michael tells me as I start to pace I sit back down and start to pour the sugar from one container to the other �We should go out there.� I tell him feeling helpless �We don�t know who is out there,� he tells me calmly. How can he be so calm? My brother and best friend are out there. �What are we supposed to do?� I ask hoping that he will give me some sort of reassurance �We wait.� He states �You know, now I know the really reason Isabel left. You are obviously the last person to be around in a crisis.� I shout at him trying to get into an argument anything to take my mind off Max and Liz of course Michael is not have any of it �We were told to sit here and wait until they come back, all right, and that's what I'm doing. I'm not the one freaking out. You're freaking out.� He says accusingly �I am not freaking out.� I deny �You keep pouring sugar from one container to the other and then back again. Quit it, it's driving me insane!� he pulls the containers away from �I just...I wish you would say something.� I start to draw circles on the tabletop �Say what? What do you want me to say?� �I don't know what. Just say something, you know, to make me feel calm, to make me feel like it's gonna be all right.� � Maybe it's not gonna be all right.� �Thanks, that helps a ton.� I tell him sarcasmitly before I start to pace again �What do you want me to do?� �I don't know.� �Shut up, then!� he shouts at me �I...I hate you!� I shout back �Ditto!� �You know, all I ask of you is just to try to make me feel better, you know, be a guy or whatever. Forget it. I have obviously tried to bark up the wrong tree.� I start to walk away but Michael soon stops me when he grabs my arm turning me to face him and kisses me. I feel myself go weak at the knees. This isn�t really how I pictured our second kiss but hey at least it is our second kiss or would this count as the first one since the other was in the dream world �That was to calm you down,� he tells me �Thanks� and then we both walk off in different directions. Calm that was meant to calm me down? I think not my heart is now going really fast and I feel like I am going to faint. I sit down in the nearest booth. I can�t believe he just kissed me when he said all he wanted to be is friends. Does he really want to be just friends or more? This is so confusing. �Where Isabel?� I look up and see Max and Liz walk through the door holding hands. I never knew my brother was such a fast worker �She left ages ago� I get up and walk towards them �Well it late so we discuss what we found out tomorrow. Come on Maria lets go. Michael do you want a lift home?� �No I walk.� �Okay. I see you later Liz� Max says before kissing her �I am going to wait in the jeep cause no sister needs to see that� �I walk you out. So do you want to hang out tomorrow?� Michael asks me �Yeah sure you can come round mine if you want� why does he make me feel so confuse �About 7� �7 it is� I smile as a plan forms in my head. TBC |
