| I spot Liz as soon as I walk into school �Hey� I greet my friend �Hey Maria how are things?� she asks as she turns back to her locker and continues getting her books �I am grounded cause of that little road trip,� I tell her �You never did tell me what happened between you and Michael.� Liz gives me her best tell all or else look �Nothing happened� more the pity �That�s not what Isabel was saying,� she says in a matter of fact tone �Isabel should keep her mouth shut. I mean Michael and me I mean, it can never be. There are a number of obstacles. His hair, his personality, the fact that he is Michael.� I finish although these are all reasons I would like to get Michael a lot better and the dream I wouldn�t mind doing a replay of that minus Isabel of course. �Yeah whatever you say Maria� Liz says in disbelief �Do you want to come over?� I ask doing a big subject change �I thought you said you were grounded� �I am so do you want to come over?� �I can�t I going to the cinema with Max�� �You�re going on a date with my brother� I say rather loudly �I am not going with just Max. Isabel and Alex are coming too� I look at my friend in disbelief but before I can even think of saying anything my friend-stealing brother came over �Hey Liz� he says dreamily and I cough. First he stealing my friends and then he not even talking to me �Oh hi Maria� he say sheepishly and I glare at him �Well we better get to class� Liz breaks the silence �bye Maria. I see you later Max� Liz gives Max the same dreamily look he had given her moments before. I think I am going to be sick. �See you later Maria� �Whatever you friend-stealing pig� I mutter �What did you say?� Max gives me a weird look �Nothing� I say giving him a sweet smile I walk further down the hall and see Michael and as soon as he sees me he walk really fast in the other direction. This can�t be a good sign. I get to my locker just as the bell rings. Damn it now I am going to be late. �Damn it open,� I yell hitting the locker and it opens with a popping sound. I grab my books and start to run to my next lesson when I run straight into a brick wall. �Watch where you�re going loser� I say my words dripping with sarcasm �Whatever� I look up and see Michael but before I could say anther word he was walking away from �Michael wait� I call after him �I am going to be later for class� �Like you care. You�re avoiding me� I accuse him �I am not avoiding you,� he denies not looking me in the eye �Oh, the classic signs, Michael. Not looking me in the eye, lying about motives...� I start to list them on my fingers �You know what? Fine. If it's gonna shut you up, I am avoiding you. Watch me continue that thought, all right?� he running his fingers through his hair before leaving. Does the word jackass mean anything to you? Talking of ass, Michael does have a pretty fine one almost makes me glad he is avoiding me. TBC |
