| �Wow, so you live all by yourself?� Maria looked around the small apartment uncomfortably. �Yeah we call it the pad.� Maria looked up curiously at Alex. �We use it to bring girls back to�� Alex stopped when Michael hit him upside the head. �Not that we�I mean I�ve never�� Maria arched her eyebrow up at him trying not to laugh at his obvious discomfort. �What Alex means Maria is that he�s a virgin.� Max said simply, smiling at the girl in front of him. �Yeah, well Max is too.� Alex pointed at him trying to take the focus off of him. Maria put her hand over her mouth to stifle the laughter that was bound to escape. They were acting like small kids trying to get each other into trouble. Maria looked over to see what Michael�s reaction to all of this was and she noticed that he was completely oblivious to the two arguing boys in front of her. Instead he was intently looking at her. She looked away and pretended to yawn which seemed to break Michael from his stupor. �Hey I�ll just get my bed ready and you can sleep in there.� Maria looked at him in surprise. He expected her to share a bed with him? Michael realising what she thought he meant quickly eased her mind. �No not like that. I meant that you can have it all to yourself, we�ll probably stay up all night watching T.V.� Maria smiled at him. �You don�t have to do that. I can sleep on the couch or something.� �What with Pinky and the Brain?� Michael asked amused. Maria laughed at the other boys� shouts of protest. �Point taken.� Maria followed Michael into the bedroom. �I bet I�m not the first girl to go into Michael Guerin�s bedroom.� Maria looked around curiously. �You�re the first girl that�s made me sleep on the couch.� Michael answered back jokingly. Maria smiled but Michael could tell that somehow he upset her by his comment. �Actually you�d be surprised I�m not the big player everyone thinks I am.� Maria looked up at Michael curiously. �Just don�t tell anyone or you might do serious damage to my street cred.� She smiled up at him and he gathered some pillows and a spare sheet from his room. Before he left he turned back to her. �Well goodnight. Oh and don�t worry my sheets were just washed this morning.� She smiled at him and he went to leave again but Maria called him back. �Michael, thanks.� Michael nodded. �It was no problem, you can stay over whenever you want.� He winked at her. �No I mean not for this�� she gestured to the room, �well yeah for this but well more than that. You know with Kyle and taking me to the Crashdown. Just thank you. For everything.� He smiled at her, nodded and walked out the door. �Oh, Michael wait.� He stopped and turned back to her. �Um I don�t have anything to sleep in.� ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BANG BANG BANG BANG. Maria stirred and stretched slowly. She opened her eyes slowly and panicked. Where was she? Breathing slowly, she looked around and remembered last night. BANG BANG BANG BANG. What the hell was that? She cautiously tiptoed to the bedroom door and peeked out. She laughed at the scene before. Sprawled out across the room in all sorts of positions and snoring loudly were Michael, Alex and Max. Jeez they can sleep through anything. The banging started again and Maria realised it was someone at the door. She tiptoed across the room, not knowing why as they were all dead to the world and opened the front door. �Kyle.� Maria said in shock. �Maria what the hell are you doing here?� TBC |
