| No quarters asked Kate goes to the railway station, to pick up medical supplies. Her close friend Jessie away travelling for 5 years has just arrived by train to Coopers Crossing. She has brought with her goates, wich will be breed for cashmere. Jessie has got Multiple Sclerosis. Kate gets out of the car, suddenly recognises Jessie standing outside the station Kate: Jessie!! Jessie: Katey! (holds out arms, Kate runs to hug her) Kate: Jessie what are you doing here? Jessie: I was going to sneak in to town to suprise you Kate: Oh, you look fantastic Jessie: You�re the first person I wanted to see, I can�t belive it. **************************************************** Sat on a windy hill looking over Jessie�s land Jessie: Katey, when I said I didn�t need help from anyone, I didn�t mean you exactly. Kate: Oh, thats better, what do you want me to do? Jessie: Well, I promised my Neurologist I�d tell someone, I don�t want anyone else to know, so just between us right? Kate: Erh, huh Jessie: Im going to need some physio on my leg, nothing much, more ya know massage, will you be able to do it? (Kate looks worried) Jessie:....Iv got Multiple Sclerosis, Katey. Kate: Oh Jess. (Kate trise to comfort Jessie) Jessie: No, Had an attack 6 months ago, but, well has�nt been a sign of it since and leg�s almost right. The good news is my Kharma tells me Im going to have a full remisson for 25 years. at least, so, so I don�t want anyone around me being negativ, no doubts, no doubts, agree? (Kate upset) Kate: Positive all the way. ( Kate and Jessie holds hands) **************************************************** Kate and Jessie go into the pub. Kate is wearing a brightky coloured dress, brought from one of the countries Jessie has visited. Geoff sat alone at a table eating a meal and reading. Jessie: (in a loud voice) You blokes still holding up the bar, now I swear that�s the same spot you where in 5 years ago. Geoff looks up from his book, at the person with the loud voice, then back at his book, but looks up again to where Jessie is standing, because he cought a glimpse of Kate standing next to Jessie, glancing across him. Kate smiles. Kate is holding Jessie by the shoulders, pushes her towards Geoff sits. Jessie wonders what she is doing and resists. Kate steers her to Geoff. Jessie: What? (Geoff stands up) Kate: (smiling broadly) Jessie Logan. Dr Geoff Standish. (they shake hands) Jessie: Ah, hello Geoff: How do you do. Jessie: I belive the RFDS is luckyto have you, both you and Dr. Randalls have worked wonders, by the sound of things. Geoff: Oh thank you ( Geoff smiling admiringly at Kate) Well this outfit will look good on a clinic run ( Kate models her dress, they all laugh) Kate: Well I would�nt like to upstage you Dr. Geoff: Upstage me, Impossible. Kate: I might suprise you one day. (they look admiringly into eachothers eyes) Geoff: I hope so (pause) Come on. (beckons them to sit at his table) Jessie: ( sees what�s going on between them) Right. (Kate and Jessie sits down) ******************************************************************* At Jessies house, Kate and Jessie is looking at photo�s from Jessie�s trip, a noice outside. Jessie picks up her gun, goes outside and Kate is following with her. A mud spattered Geoff steps out of the shadow, with his arms raised. Geoff: I, I (nervous laugh) I thought you might have needed some help. (Kate looks at a mudcovered Geoff, turns to Jessie, bursts out laughing, they all walk into the house) Geoff: Must have taken a wrong turn, next thing I knowed Im bogged, I thought I�d never see this place. Geoff sits down. Kate is still laughing. She wets a towel. Kate: Did you try getting it out? Geoff: Yeah, I tried everything I knew, I think I wrecked my shoulder. (Jessie says she is going out to have a look, Kate says she will go with her if she takes her gun) Geoff: Well I coulden�t budge it. I don�t know what you think you can do Kate: (gives the wet towel to Geoff, walks to the door, turns to Geoff) Keep the homefires burning (gives Geoff a wink and smile, follows Jessie outside) |
