Geoffrey Graham Standish comes to Coopers Crossing after his wife Barbera died in cancer and Geoff blamed himself for it. Why Geoff became a doctor was because of his father that worked in the harbour in Changi during the war. When his father came home he used to tell stories about Weary Dunlop. The stories affected Geoff and that�s why he decided to become a doctor. His father died in 1972 because his lungs weren�t any good after the war. To put himself through medical school he worked in factories and restaurants. Geoff has two brothers. Kevin and Barry.
In the beginning he gets a job offer from Sydney. But he turns it down after he sees how many people care for him in C.C.
Geoff and Kate argue nearly all the time. Kate thinks he�s a city doctor. And Geoff sees Kate more as a trainee. But you could see that despite their fights there was something going on between them.
Their first kiss was in episode 41, "The hometown hero" but Kate runs out of the hospital when she realises what she is doing. And the episode after that �A Distant Echo" they ignore eachother but at the end they talk and Geoff tells Kate that he�s not ready for another commitment yet.
In episode 59, "Operating Solo" Geoff has hurt his knee and Kate has to go with him to Broken Hill. But there aren�t any beds left for him so he has to check in to a motel with Kate. But while they are drinking champagne they kiss. But they stop when the phone rings. Well Kate didn�t tell Geoff about that a patient of his Chris was going to operate on and when Geoff found out he got angry with her. But when he realised that they where fighting again he stopped. And everything got back to normal.
When they stayed at a dying, old ladies house in episode �One Final Request� she asked him if Kate knew how he felt about her he said:
"There are some things you don�t need to talk about".
In episode 82 "Broken Airways" Kate and Geoff had an argument. Kate thinks that everybody is taking her for granted. Well the argument ends up with that Kate says that she will write out her registration in Thargamindah. And Geoff is worried she will quite for good. But Kate is in an accident on the way. She contacts the base but she is really confused about everything. So Geoff and everybody else has to find her. And Geoff is really worried. He realises how much he loves her when Chris says:
"I love her to you know". When they found Kate, Geoff becomes really happy and he kisses her in the plane. But their troubles don�t end her.
In episode 85 �Family Secrets� his brother comes to C.C. Kate realises that Geoff doesn�t share anything about himself for her. And Barry takes advantage of the situation.
Geoff tells Kate that he loves his brother but he just can�t stand him. Barry is nice to everybody. He builds the sport centre and he helps everybody.
She tells him that she hates him. And Barry comes to comfort her.
Geoff gets angry and tells Barry to leave Kate alone. But Barry tells Kate this and Kate gets madder at Geoff. So she goes out with Barry.
Well it ends up that Barry tries to rape Kate and when he takes her back he drives like crazy. When Geoff finds out. He goes to talk with Barry. And when Barry asks Geoff if he�s going to marry Kate he tells Geoff not to kill Kate like he did to his first wife Geoff gets angry. And they end up in a fight. Barry leaves C.C.
And Geoff starts to tell Kate all about his life. And he tells her that he loves her. But Kate is still upset and takes out a vacation to get him out of her system.
Geoff really misses her when she�s gone. And when she comes back he tries to speak to her. But what she doesn�t know is that Chris is sick. And Geoff doesn�t tell her at first. He asks her for a second chance but she says that he has already gotten one. Well Kate decides to stay in C.C. until Chris is well again. But Kate is still mad at Geoff and avoids him.
In episode 95 "A thing of a beauty". Geoff asks Kate if they can be friends. And she says yes and Geoff gives her a small kiss. In episode 100
�Gotta have friends� Geoff propose to her. In episode 101 "The Gift" he tells her that he has loved her since he first saw her. And in that episode she says yes to his proposal.
They decide to keep their engagement a secret. Well Chris knows about it. And Paula sees when Kate whispers
"I love you" to Geoff in episode 102 "A Second Chance"
They want to have a quite wedding so they elope to the coast. Episode "The Adventure" But the couple they where supposed to get married at had lost their birth certificate. So they went back to C.C. unmarried. But Chris had just told everybody that they where married. So when they came back Paula and D.J thought it was strange that Kate stilled lived at Chris house so they moved her furniture to Geoffs (episode "No mans land") But Geoff and Kate moved them back. Well they decided to have a wedding in C.C. When the wedding day came Geoff is out delivering a baby. And he realises that he will miss the wedding. But D.J comes up with an idea. And Kate and Geoff gets married over the radio.
In episode 122 " A doctors dreaming" Geoff�s appendix nearly burst and Kate is the only one that is there that can operate. At first Geoff does it himself but he faints and Kate had to take over. But everything went fine.
Geoff is really worried over Kate two times after their wedding. One time he thought she was dead. When she was on a plane with Tom that chrashed.
And the second time was when she held hostages in an airplane.
Geoff and Kate really want to have a baby. But they are to stressed the doctors says. So they decides go camping.
And two episodes after Kate finds out that she is pregnant.
And after nine episodes she gives birth to a baby girl that they named
Scarlett Louisa.
She was sick when she was born but after an operation she was healthy again.
In episode 194 "Out of the blue" Geoff and Kate has a big fight. And it doesn�t help that Penny falls in love with Geoff after he saved her life.
Geoff decides to sleep at the hospital for a few days. And he talks to Guy about his and Kate�s fight.
Geoff tells him that if he ever loved a person again he wouldn�t take her for granted and that�s what he has done to Kate and Scarlet.
But Geoff and Kate make up again.
