BREAKAWAY

Kate has been involved in a car accident with an armed man. She has injured her leg and has concussion so Geoff admits her to hospital for overnight observation. She is led in bed reading her hospital notes. Geoff appears from behind the curtain.

KATE: Is it visiting hours already?

GEOFF: No, I�m on my rounds and that�s confidential. Patients should not look at their files!

KATE: Ah, but I�m the nursing sister in charge.

GEOFF: Not today you�re not, come on hand it over.

Kate reluctantly hands over her file.

KATE: I�ve read it anyway.

GEOFF: Does the patient live?

KATE: Oh I think she�ll pull through. Can I get up now?

GEOFF: No, you�re under observation.

KATE: I can hobble about.

GEOFF: Like a lame duck! You�ll be no good to anyone!

KATE: Thanks a lot!

GEOFF: Now you take it nice and easy, and if you�re lucky, I�ll take you home tonight.

KATE: (laughs) You�re enjoying this aren�t you?

GEOFF(smiling) No, I just want to make sure you�re one hundred per cent fit before I discharge you.

He tucks in her bedclothes.

KATE: Thank you for looking after me Dr. Standish!

They kiss.

GEOFF(laughing) Yes, I am enjoying this!

Kate thumps him in the chest and they both start laughing.
