Speech on Science Vs. Religion

I want to become a minister. I dont know why it is appealing to me, or how I am going to go about doing it. I just know that I will. I have been asked why I want to become a minister when science has disproved so many things in the Bible, and that there are miracle busters out there trying to scientifically perform the miracles that were performed. I would like to tell you all how I came to terms with such a seemingly paradox idea.
I truly see Gods work everywhere. It absolutely amazes me when I think about all that we have to know. There are parts of the ocean that have to be explored, never mind countless galaxies. How this big machine called Earth works is mind-boggling. How different life would be if the ratios of gas in the atmosphere were slightly more oxygen based. Every part in the world works in order that the whole is capable of sustaining itself.
In regards to evolution, I am a creation-evolutionist. I believe that God set up the conditions for life to evolve as it did. For me, the Garden of Eden was a metaphor for the primordial ooze that we all evolved from. When I took biology, learning about sodium/potassium pumps, or meiosis or mitosis did not cause me to rethink my thoughts on how life works. It actually did something quite contrary; it strengthened my belief in a soul, in that there must be one, for why does a sodium/potassium pump keep running? If we are nothing but a bunch of controlled chemical reactions, why is it necessary to propagate? For me the answer is apparent when I look out my window. We are part of something grand, something that we cannot fully understand, since we are part of the whole, as Kant said.
I hope that I did not bore you or made you think I was delivering a sermon. I just wanted to give you my ideas on this subject. If you want to come back to this speech, you can find the transcript on www.geocities.com/linkisup/transcript. Thank You.
