Karl Marx
Marx was a material, or what people called an historical materialist, whos thinking had a practical, or even political objective. Besides being a philosopher, Marx was also a historian, sociologist and economist.

Marx called these material, economic, and social relations the basis of society. Marx realized that there was an interactive relation between society and superstructure.

There are three levels in the basis of society, which are also sometimes called conditions of production.

Marx soon realized that the conflict was first and foremost between the capitalists and the workers. Marx was especially interested in transforming to a communist society from a capitalistic one.

Before Marx became a communist, ha had been concerned with what happens to man when he works. To Marx, work was a positive thing, and is closely connected with the essence of mankind.
