They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. If that is true, then poetry is the door.

A Zen Garden

As the rain began to fall, the droplets pooling on the leaves,
I wondered just how anyone could walk by without seeing.
A whole unnoticed world was right there, bustling at their feet,
the spiders, ants and centipedes, from the raindrops were all fleeing.

And I, I sat there staring, quite a sight I must have been,
I noticed the strange looks that I received time and again.
But for the moment I was happy, being so consumed,
that when the rain picked up again I felt no urge to move.

I watched the raindrops forming patterns in the spider’s web.
I watched the moths fall through the air and slowly rise again.
I watched it all until I was quite satisfied with seeing
and made my way back to my day, a more centered, happy being.
