This is the section of my page called The Characters where new Zelda fans who know little about the game and old fans who want to read every section of my page can learn about the main characters in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. If you have any questions about any of these characters, or other ones that I haven't written about here, don't be afraid to ask.
Link Link is the main character in all the Zelda games. This time around, while in the woods riding his horse Epona, he was robbed. Two fairies flew out in front of Epona and startled her, causing her to throw Link off her back, and knocking him out. While he was unconscious, Skull Kid, possessed by Marjoa's Mask, walked up to Link and started looking through his possessions. He pulled out the Ocarina of Time, and decided to take it. Just as he was walking away, Link woke up. Skull Kid jumped on Epona and started riding off. Link followed Skull Kid into a strange cave where he fell in a hole and was transported to a parallel world called Termina. By that time, Skull Kid had already gotten rid of Epona, and turned Link into a Deku Scrub before escaping.
Deku Link In Majora's Mask, Link has the ability to wear many masks. At least three of these masks transform Link into different creatures. The first creature Link is transformed into is a Deku Scrub. In this form, Link can do many things that he normally would not be able to do. For one, he can jump on water, but only five times. After that, he sinks. However, most of the time when he has to jump across water, there are lilypads or other things that he can land on from which he can start his five skips once more. When he gets the ability to use magic, Deku Link can blow bubbles out of his mouth. The bigger the bubble is, the longer it will fly. Deku Link also has the ability to dive into Deku Flowers. When he does this, he flies out and can hover for a short period of time. Link runs fastest when in this form.
Goron Link (Darunia) When Link goes to Goron Mountain, he uses the Lens of Truth to follow the spirit of the Goron warrior Darunia to his grave. Once there, Link plays the Song of Healing to cure Darunia of his pain, and he is rewarded with a mask. When he puts the mask on he turns into a Goron and everyone thinks he's Darunia. In this form, Link can curl up into a ball and roll around really fast. If he does this for a few seconds, he will start rolling even faster and spikes will come out of him. During this time he is invincible, but if he comes into contact with most things, he'll stop. As Darunia, Link can also deliver a very strong punch to his enemies, and he can also curl up into a ball, jump in the air, pound the ground, and damage anything immediately around him. As a Goron, Link only has two weaknesses: heights and water. In this form, he can't jump or swim, and he moves slower than in any other form.
Zora Link (Mikau) When he first visits Great Bay, Link sees a Zora floating out in the ocean. He pulls him onto shore, but it's too late - the Zora dies and his body disappears. The only thing that remains is his face, which becomes the Zora Mask. In this form, everyone thinks Link is Mikau, guitarist for The Indigo-Gos, a popular Zora band. As Mikau, Link can swim underwater at any depth, and at extremely high speeds. While underwater, he can summon a force field to appear around him and make him invincible. This shield is both offensive and defensive. While on land, he can use his fins as boomerangs. Link is tallest in this form, and can reach certain places that he can't in any other form.
The Happy Mask Salesman The Happy Mask Salesman is a very odd character. He wanders around selling people masks. He has a good knowledge of Majora's Mask, which he believes is being used to bring an end to the world after it is stolen from him by Skull Kid. At the beginning of the game, the Happy Mask Salesman turns Link back into a human after Skull Kid turns him into a Deku Scrub. He also teaches Link the Song of Healing. He asks Link to do everything he can to get Majora's Mask from Skull Kid, or the world will end. The only problem is that Link only has 72 hours to get the job done.
Skull Kid Skull Kid is a bit of a loner. He played too many tricks on his friends and quickly found that he didn't have any left. While sitting in a alone in a log, two fairies flew by and saw him. The two fairies, brother and sister Tatl and Tael, became friends with Skull Kid. One day, he stole Majora's Mask from the Happy Mask Salesman. Ever since he put it on, he's been possessed to do bad things. After he turns Link into a Deku Scrub he runs away, but Tatl gets left behind and teams up with Link. They find out that Skull Kid is using his powers to summon the moon, and within three days, it will fall to the earth, killing everyone and everything.
