Local Band Takes School by Storm
                    North Bend Claw
                 November 2002 edition

As you walk down the hall you see one, then another, then another.  You start to wonder where you have been and what's this new craze you missed.
If you're wondering what is going on, here is the answer.
Linkage is a new area band that's hitting the school.
This band consists of Colby McIntyre, lead vocals and bass guitar player.  Kevin Schatz who plays drums and sings backup, and finally Dan Hart who has replaced Jerry Pedraza as the guitarist.  Kevin attends David City Public, while Colby and Dan are students at North bend Central.
Linkage is a punk rock group who even writes their own songs.  The songs are written mostly by McIntyre, but they have one song written by the departed Pedraza.  Schatz and Hart have also written songs, but they have not reached the final stage yet.
McIntyre said, "I just tend to write about whatever i am thinking about or going through at the time.  I just sit down and put it on the paper."
So far this band has hit the North Bend junior high dance, the David City One Act Dance, and various front yards throughout David City.
As of right now the band is hoping to get a CD made and are working on paying a debt off to their manager, Zach McIntyre.  In the future they are hoping to get signed by a record company, but they realize it will take lots of work.
The group is selling Linkage T-shirts for $12 dollars each.  Other items can be found on their website, www.geocities.com/linkage_band/.

Linkage Members Devote Energy to Sucess of Band
                 David City Scoop
            January 29, 2003 Edition
Tour Dates:  Colby's basement....July 4...Kevin's Garage...July 20...Jerry's Front Yard...August 19...We will play at your party for low pay and food."
These announcements grace tee shirts printed to promote the band Linkage.  This modest local band was the brainchild of David City High School junior Kevin Schatz.
"I wanted to have a band, so i asked the guys if they wanted to do it, besides the fact that they didn't know how to play the instruments," Schatz said.
Since this lowly beginning, though, Schatz and the other members of the band, Colby McIntyre and Dan Hart, both North Bend students, have seen their punk rock band grow and win fans.
Linkage members are trying to make a name for themselves by playing wherever they can, including middle and high school dances, bars, and parties.  The band is also promoting itself with a website and their famous, quirky tee shirts.
Members of Linkage have toiled to make their music and image fresh, original, and professional.  The band practices two-seven times every week.
Linkage members also work to please fans by writing many of their own songs.  Creating original music is challenging but Linkage members are not deterred.  "When I write songs I just sit down at my computer and think.  It might be about something that I am going through at the time, or just something that popped into my head," McIntyre said.
The band is beginning to see its hard work pay off as a faithful following has grown to love Linkage in David City and the surrounding area.
"Linkage is very talented.  All of the members exhibit very interesting musical expression," junior Sarah Beringer said.
Hart, McIntyre, and Schatz have poured lots of hard work into their band, and they don't plan on slowing down anytime soon.  Linkage hopes to complete a CD by the end of the year.
