| Who I am My name is Hoang Viet Anh. I was born and rised in Hanoi, Vietnam. My mother tongue is Vietnamese, but I write this page in English - just for fun. My photo album My Bookmark My diary My resume Where I live I always live in Hanoi, except when I live somewhere else. Hanoi is a damn city like many others. Hanoian look at themself as the most elgegant elite of Vietnam - while the rest of country consider them as the most arrogant crap. BTW I'm from Hanoi, this is not that bad all the time. There's still some thing called culture in the city, if you can define culture as eating dog meat as much as you want. Below is a list of my favourite places - Hanoi coffe and restaurant. Currently I'm in Newcastle upon Tyne until 2006. This city is well know for Newcastle United FC and chaver. Newcasle has a reputation of being fun-loving city with many bars, restaurant and night clubs What I do When I'm not playing I do work from time to time. My long-term work is with Research Center for Forest Ecology and Environment. Being a forester in Vietnam is not a fancy job but it give you lots of fund and oportunity to travel the country. Basiclly I'm interested in application of GIS and Remote sensing for Natural resources management. I have played quite a bit with erosion modelling, forest land evaluation, GIS and digital image processing. For the time being I am working on application of remote sensing for desertification monitroing in Vietnam. The aim of the research is bring together information from different remotly sensed data source to solve a single yet complex problem : desertification in semi-arid area in Vietnam and southest Asia. The proposed data source is a combination of medium resolution imagery (MODIS, MERIS), high resolution sensor (ASTER) and RADAR (ENVISAT/ASAR). I'm also interested in the social and political aspect of forestry management, which may have more impact on forestry industry than research work in my institute. However an engagement between this 2 medium is still a long stuggle story. Here is a list of some of my papers Other stuff Some links on remote sensing Soil Forest History Last updated: 26 Nov. 2004 Hoang Viet Anh |
