[[ Part 4- Old Times ]]
The four of them sat around a large table occupying most of the space in the tiny, confined room. They were supposed to be talking about the debate, discussing their points and writing their speeches together. They were far from it though, since the only one who seemed to be actually working on the debate was Adele. She was furiously writing away in a little notebook, which Jaycee presumed to be her speech. The scent of nail polish wafted through the air. Mariah was sitting in the corner concentrating intensely on her perfectly rounded nails like her life depended on it. Alex was staring at a dream photo of him with his arms around his girlfriend, Amba. Sprawled in front of him were the contents of his wallet, more pictures of him and Amba through the years.
As much as Jaycee pretended not to, she couldn't resist taking sneak peeks at the many Polaroid shots of the couple all through high school. In the corner she could see a worn out picture of him with a girl in a forest. It wasn't Amba though, it was her. Her hair had been much longer then, and more brown, but she could still tell it was her. Jaycee smiled slightly, but it was barely noticeable unless you were looking right at her, expecting it. She let her eyes wander, until she saw a picture that Amba and him had taken in a sticker photo booth. Most likely Amba had dragged them there, forced him to take the picture and use a stupid little border made up of lovehearts. That wasn't the thing that bothered her though. It was the part with them in full lip lock that wiped the smile instantly off her face.
Jaycee sighed. That picture reminded her of the reason why she had kept her distance from Alex in the first place.

English had finally finished. Adele had thought up a few things, pretended she was working, but had just been writing numerous letters to her friends back home. She still wasn't quite ready to call this new place home, even if it was only a 20 minute drive away. She hated this school: the people, the teachers. Adele looked at her timetable and realised that she had no idea where to go. As the warning bell sounded, she quickly turned around the corner, only to hear a voice say "Ow!". She looked up and saw a guy. She grew red in the face, mumbled "Sorry" and walked away. She could feel his eyes turn to her as she walked towards what she hoped was her next classroom. She heard him sigh and walk away, so she peeped through the door. Not recognising anyone, she simply headed out the front door of the school. No one will miss me, anyway, she thought.
She hopped on the first bus that came. After 15 minutes, the area became very familiar. She saw Mr. Stevenson's bakery, where she used to buy fresh bread everyday. Noticing several school kids, she looked down at her watch. 3:02. That must mean that this was the actual school bus! She had to find a way to get off before anyone from Delaney College saw her. She stopped to think. The next bus stop would be outside Mr Ho's Chinese place. She got up to get off. The bus driver pulled over.
"Thanks," she said. He gave her a funny look, shrugged and replied, "Have a good day, missy." She looked around and found herself very comfortable in her territory.
"'Dele?"
She heard a familiar voice. She turned. "Matty?"
Soon, a flurry of words were exchanged between old friends. Adele and Matthias had been friends since they were little. Things hadn't gone to well for either of them when Adele's dad picked up the family and moved. Maybe I should just come back here.
