| The Trail to the End of the World | ||||||
| The world ends with a sigh As soliders march toward a smokey horizon Leaving footprints in the dust and decay. The sky is filled with soot And everything glows a dusky brown. I saw this happen in my head When I was a child. Everyone was silent and marching Along the trail to the end of the world Where fires loomed in the distance And not even tears could aleviate it's fury. I shake my head in wonderment As everything around me fades. Off in the distance a man prays on his knees. (I do not understand salvation) But I cry for him as he lays down and dies. It's almost my time to go, too I can feel myself somewhere else. But before I blacked out You tapped me on the shoulder and hugged me tight. Your face was the last picture in my mind. And just before I fall away forever I smile to myself, And thank you For giving me the most perfect life. |
