| One time I found myself On the edge of Rocky Point Laughing wildly into the wind Letting it messy itself in my hair My nightgown, blowing around violently Below me, the torrential waves thrashing about I had the sudden urge to throw myself at the mercy of the tides To feel what it was like to fight for something And in the second before I was to jump Something caught my eye Blinking and flickering Like a candle in the wind But not so menacingly I had forgotten the old lighthouse on the cliffs How it would flash intermittent sparks across the blemished night Warning the innocent ships of their oncoming doom And I realized that I was the same innocent ship Stranded in the furious waves Weighted down by the pull of the moon upon me Suddenly the slippery pebbles underfoot gave way And I felt myself soaring through the heavens And even though I knew I would hit the frigid water below And quite possibly abandon all hope for survival I smiled And for the perfect moment I was free |
