| Underneath the flowers I find the remains of what used to be The grimy residue of the soul A reminder of long ago Clinging to my very being I cringe at the thought of our history The stain of the past I regret you in every way But I confess That I never loved you I was too afraid I knew inside your love would fade Fade green envy into jade And you would fall away Every day But today I've learned to say Flowers bloom and flowers die And sometimes your heart will cry But flowers bloom and flowers die To risk love you must always try Your flower has run its course today But under the petals your remains will stay To dirty the hands of others like me The hands that hold your memory |
