| Breathing in New Mexico | ||||||
| I once met an Indian girl Her name was Ajura She said that she had seen sixteen summers That made her my age She taught me how to live How to believe She was a Navajo She was beautiful She called me Indigo At first I didn't know why But she explained it to me She could see my aura She called it my inner light It was indigo - so that's who I became I spent many days with her people Learning about the earth They make the world beautiful They take pride in the land Ajura gave me a greater understanding of the world She made me thankful just to breathe You could say this experience changed my life I would say, that it started my life Gave me a different view A view through the eyes of a Navajo girl Who was part of the land She sees the soul in the forest Reflects the sunrise in her eyes Smiles and the world is still She taught me to inhale life And hold it until I could burst She said you haven't really lived Until you can breathe in New Mexico |
