| And So We Sit | ||||||
| And so we sit Upon the rooftops of tonight And watch as life transcends itself Below us And we wonder With curious hands How it all began But we make no point To try and understand The beauty of tonight And how it stands Upon the mortal ground That we trudge along So very long And never really understand What the reason for our being Was at all But being that which being is about Is truely only something we can live without For trying to define That which we know naught Will only get you deeper Into the abyss Of eternal night That hereafter singes Our spirit That we think we possess Because we believed in something When we were seven And now there's nothing left To believe in Accept that which we see From way up here On this rooftop Because it's all we have left And all we will ever know Because it's all we have left to show For our life Upon this land That we never really set foot on Because we were too afraid We would trip and fall And never make it back up Again |
