| She smiled a lot A pathetic attempt To make us believe She was all right Deep inside If you listened long enough You could hear her screaming Yearning to escape And in her eyes You could see the miles, The roads, The melancholy Through all her smiles Her eyes never changed It was that kind of crestfallen Embodiment of pain The one that makes you Crumble inside Because you know you feel it too You know you've seen the monsters That keep her awake at night And you know you've encountered The endless miles The lonely roads The infinite melancholy And the yearning to go home But everything you encounter Is one more reminder That through your eyes All you see Is someone else's pain And your own boundless desire To escape the apathy That everyone is drowning in |
