The importance of emotional intelligence on an individual is greater than most think it may be.� In order to do well intelligently you must be prepared emotionally.� Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to identify our emotional responses to stimuli and the degree to which we control our responses.� Researchers have found that our emotionally state ways very heavily on how well we perform.� A report written in 1994 stated,"the price we pay for emotional literacy is in failed marriages, in stunted social and work lives, in deteriorating physical health and mental anguish and, as a society, in tragedies such as killings."("Emotional Intelligence")� The five emotional intelligences characteristics are empathy, self motivation, mood management, self awareness, and managing relationships.� Researchers say we need emotional intelligence because it is, "a brain based learning that suggests emotional health is fundamental to effective learning."("Emotional Intelligence")� Emotional intelligence can be very important on recognizing the affect it can have on ones relationships in life.
