VH1 EXCLUSIVE REVIEW

Self-described as "four fun young girls from Dublin", B*WITCHED have also been dubbed the "Irish Spice Girls". While the groups are very similar, teen-aged B*WITCHED's music and lyrics are more innocent and playful than those of their English counterpart.

Clearly the best tracks are the first two: "Lets Go (The B*Witched Jig)" which segues into their smash single "C'Est La Vie". These two tracks manage to blend in Celtic touches of pipes, tin whistle and fiddle quite effectively to become part of the pop mix instead of being laid on top as an oh-by-the-way declaration of their heritage. All the songs use the pop recipe of beat and production first with the vocals as almost an afterthought. Because of the variety of rhythm and melodies on B*Witched, this works for most of the CD, though there are sections which succumb to pop-formula banality.

Though fun for all ages, this is music that appeals to a very youthful ideal. It's not about anything serious. With songs like "Rollercoaster", "We Four Girls" and "Castles In The Air", the overall theme is how fun and carefree life can be. Kind of refreshing to those of us lost in our adult ponderings.
