| Boyzone-related girls next door. Far too virginal to zig-a-zag-ah. Perhaps teen pop's most complete package in years, B*Witched may lack the necessary spice to make them truly pulse-quickening - they come from Ireland, not Planet Sex - but they've an Osmonds-like wholesomeness that makes them, like Disney cartoons, fun for all the family. While recent chart topper C'est La Vie revealed a basic knowledge of GSCE French but a natural flair for effervescent melody, their debut album (apparently co-written by the girls) displays a similarly bright way with fizzy pop. Rev It Up is another frolic in a summer sandpit, while the bizarrely Electric Light Orchestra-flavoured Oh Mr. Postman is a safe bet for the Christmas Number One. Ultimately, however, these girls can't even spell scandal, much less create it, so their main appeal lies very much with the youngest generation. |
