| AWAKE AND BREATHE REVIEW
Okay, so this album's been out for a while, and I've had it since last year,
but I just now found this page, so bear with me. OK? OK.
I've liked B*witched since buying their first album. In fact, I never took it
out of CD player...until a bought a new CD. (I'm po'. I don't buy CDs often).
But Awake and Breathe is better, in my opinion. It's more versatile. After a
bit, the 1st one gets a tad repititios, and you think, "Didn't I just hear
that song?" I also like A&W because the other girls get to sing as well.
(Stop hoggin' all the songs, Ed!).
I don't see what the fuss over Red Indian Girl is about. If they called it
Drunken Irish Girl, would that make y'all happy? Since when is music
politically correct?
Are You A Ghost? is my personal favorite. "Shadows burn like faded flames/
And die into the night". Quite poetic, lovey.
Leaves is lovely, but it makes me sleepy. "Til like a leaf, we fall, onto to
the-" *ZZZZZZZZZZZZ* . Wh-wha-? Oh, sorry. Where was I? Oh yeah...
My least fave is It Was Our Day. (Sorry, Keaves and Edele). And The Shy One
sounds like an S Club 7 song in some ways.
Lindsay has a great voice and can do a bit better than My Superman, but it's
not a bad song. And if it weren't for Sinead doing the "uh, uh, uh" in the
background (least I think it's her ) the song wouldn't be near as
entertaining.
If It Don't Fit. It's catchy! Catchy, baby. And the Live routine is a bit
ambiguous. Linds thought of it. At least I know she thought of the dance.
Whether or not she came up with the actual stripping the man of his clothes,
I do not know. If she did, she apparently wanted it to be a group effort
and...OK, I'm just gonna stop right there.
Jump Down has a kickin' beat, but I'd suggest to the ladies that if they
wanna find someone to write them a song, find some one who can come up with
something better than "You ran away with my spoon". Love the beat, love the
video, but the lyrics are stupid.
"Jesse Hold on. Just hold on and on and on"....Is this song about the
Energizer Bunny? It keeps going and going and....Oh, but I like the Banjo.
Then again, I'm from Tennessee.
Oh, they can sing! In Fields Where We Lay. Accapella. Lovely. You can really
hear Lindsay in this song.
I Shall Be There. The title of this album comes from this song. It's lovely.
But it would be less without the African Choir singing....whatever they're
singing. And there's a birdie chirping!
Blame It On The Weatherman Orchestral Version. Really no point in this one
being there. I already heard this on the last one.
Bottom line, if you don't like at least some of the songs on this album, then
there is something very wrong with you.
And that is my review. My GOD! It was long! Do I ever shut up? Just blah blah
blah...... |
