Graphic Designers are like journalists, except they use visual communication; pictures, publications, advertising, productions, packaging, posters, signs, interactive media illustrations, logos etc. They create identities for companies, products, organizations. A notable designer is Milton Glaser who designed the unmistakable I Love NY ad campaign (1973), and a famous Bob Dylan poster (1968).

Once you have your high school diploma, you must obtain a university degree in visual arts with specialization in graphic design, commercial art, graphic communications or cartooning or completion of a college diploma in graphic arts. Related programs in college or university are Graphic Design, Visual Arts, General design, and Fine Art / Studio Art. Some colleges that offer graphic design courses are: Canadore College (North Bay, Ontario), Capilano College (North Vancouver, British Columbia), Dawson College (Montreal, Quebec), Durham Business and Computer College (Toronto, Ontario), Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design (Vancouver, British Columbia), Fanshawe College of Art and Technology (London, Ontario), George Brown College (Toronto, Ontario), Grant MacEwan College (Edmonton, Alberta), and International Academy of Design (Toronto, Ontario). Some universities are: University College of the Fraser Valley (Abbotsford, British Columbia), Kwantlen University College (Vancouver, British Columbia), Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (Halifax, Nova Scotia), University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta), and York University (Toronto, Ontario). They needed skills for this field of work are creative ability and artistic talent.

The money a graphic designer makes depends on how many years of experience they have. Graphic designers who are new to the workfield will usually make between $14,000 and $45,000 a year, intermediate designers can make between $16,000 and $60,000, and senior level designers can make $25,000 to $120,000 a year.

Working hours for a graphic designer depend on the environment where they are working in. Graphic designers, who work normal hours or for large companies, work around 8 hours a day. Sometimes if there is a deadline approaching on a project they can work 15 hours a day. Graphic designers also have flexibility, since most of the work is done on a computer, after they have the ideas of what the implore wants; they can work from about any where as long as they have their software and equipment.

Reflection: The programs I used for this project were Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop. I learned from this project: How to set up a basic webpage, how to create tables, creating banners, putting in backgrounds, changing photos to the size I need, changing the format of the pictures, changing the format of music, creating a picture link, creating buttons and styling photos. I enjoyed working on it, and hopefully the next project will be even more creative.
