Economy
________________________________

The economy of Lindonarlin is prosperous and expanding. Historically the economy has been supported by trade with it's colonies and the mining of iron ore, gold and silver. Logging became very important early on as not only an export item but also as a way to clear fertile land for crops and pastures. As the Realm grew and the colonies broke away Lindonarlin began to diversify it's economy.

Currency

[tech] I havent gone into detail on the worth of the Crown but I'm thinking it might be a little more valuable than the American dollar. So I guess that would mean that something that costs 50 American Dollars could be bought for maybe 45 Crowns?? [tech]

The currency of the Realm is the Crown =

1 Crown = 2 Half Crowns
Half Crown = 2 Silver
1 Silver = 5 Coppers
1 Crown = 2 Half Crowns
1 Crown = 4 Silver
1 Crown = 20 Copper
Paper Currency is broken into the Crown, 5 Crowns, 10 Crowns, 50 Crowns and 100 Crowns.

Resources and Production

agriculture: wine, wheat, corn, , cattle, poultry, fish

In the western provinces and the far northern province across the mountains have been cleared of the forests that once grew there and now large golden fields of wheat and emerald fields of corn grow. Pastures for cattle strecth as far as the eye can see. In warmer areas where the soil is deep vineyards grow. Off the coasts large fishing grounds can be found and the Realm has long profited off the fish caught there.

mining: anthracite coal, marble, gypsum, magnesium, copper, oil and petroleum, natural gas, gems, some gold and silver and diamond

Stretching across northern Lindonarlin the Brask Mountains have provided a great source of profit for the Realm. Coal of the greatest quality, anthracite, can be found in great abundance. Copper and magnesium is also mined. Large veins of gold and silver stretch deep into the mountains and have provided the Realm with the base for their currency and wealth. A diamond mine has been opened in one of the provinces and reports of Uranium discoveries are being investigated. Oil, petroleum, and natural gas fields can be found all over Lindonarlin and off the coasts.

manufacturing: automobiles, food processing, textiles, electronics, petrochemicals, steel

Manufacturing is still fairly new to Lindonarlin. The biggest manufacturing sectors are in food processing, oil and petroleum refining and products, textiles, and steel production. The Realm is looking to improve and expand it's Automobile/Vehicles sector, shipbuilding, electronics and other high tech industries.

Lindonarlin is currently attempting to expand it's medicine, research , banking and trade sectors of economy.

Tracts of forest set aside for use are cut down to provide timber for furniture and paper. These products are not widely exported and any trees cut down are replanted.

While the Realm encourages international trade and businesses to take up residence, it protects it's domestic industries. The Realm tries to keep foreign industry at no larger that 25% of it's total economy. [tech] unlike the US that has over half it's economy depend on foreign owned business[tech]. All business are monitored by the government to ensure safety, fair wages, and over pricing.
