The Government of Lindonarlin

The Kingdom of Lindonarlin is ruled by a Constitutional Monarchy. The powers of the various branches and supreme law of the Realm are outlined within Charter of the Realm.

The Monarch holds the executive powers of; a symbol of unity and representation of the Realm, creating treaties and negotiations with foreign nations, the power to bestow or revoke titles, lands and honors to individuals, appoint Ministers of the Departments and other offices, recognize nations and religions, approve laws, and is Commander of the Royal Armed Forces.

The Monarch is a hereditary position and can be held by either a male or female heir. The Monarch manages and collects revenue from two family Royal Foldes, Erain and Tier. The current Monarch; King Elyssan II is of the Royal House Tariq and is a just and wise ruler.

The Council of Lords is half the legislative branch and holds the powers of: approving proposals from the Royal Assembly, approve treaties made by the Monarch, exercise control of the Capital City and Lands of Victoria, set the value and supply of currency, shares the power of Declarations of War with the Royal Assembly, oversee the High Courts and convene Impeachment Sessions and try the Monarch for Impeachment.

The Council of Lords has a set number of fifty members, five Lords from each province. One Lord from each province is elected as High Lord and direct leader of that province. Lords hold personal lands and collect revenue from them. In the event that the Monarch dies without an heir or appointed Successor, the Lords vote and elect one from among themselves to take the throne.

The Royal Elected Assembly is the second half of the legislative branch and holds the powers of: establish and collect taxes, manage the debt and revenue of the Realm, propose laws to the Council, oversee the Lower Courts, request the abdication of the Monarch or call the Council into an Impeachment Session.

The Royal Electors members are determined by one for every fifty thousand residents of their province but are currently fixed at 351 Electors until such time as a new province is created. The members of the Royal Assembly are elected by the people and are their representatives. The Electors receive compensations for their services.

The Ministers of the Departments of State are led by the First Minister which is also the chief advisor to the Monarch. The Ministers oversee the agencies and policies within their jurisdiction. The Departments are: of Education, Health, Defense, Agriculture, Finance, Judicial Affairs, Commerce, Labor, Public Relations, Foreign Affairs, Energy and of the Interior.

The Ministers are chosen from among the Lords by the Monarch and the number of Departments is not set but created and eliminated by the Monarch as needed. The Departments of State act as a tool and advisory board to the Monarch and the Council.

Checks and Balances

The Monarch is able to check the Lords by choosing his Ministers from those most loyal to him. The Lords hold votes in the Council and so help ensure approval of his proposed laws. Since the Ministers desire to keep the favor of the Monarch the Royal Assembly is checked from constantly overthrowing the monarch.

The Council is able to check the power of the Monarch by having the sole power to approve laws and overthrow the ruler. The Royal Assembly is also checked by the power to approve laws.

The Royal Assembly is able to check the power of the Monarch because they represent the majority feelings of the people and propose most laws. They have the power to request Impeachment Sessions of the Council. The Assembly also checks the power of the Council by being the sole managers of the revenue of the kingdom.
