scoring
score Scoring a very easy part of the game but it for some reason confuses new curlers. I think that they actually fet confused with the score board itself, so lets take a look at it. First you have the teams which are represented in colour usually yellow, red, or blue. Thesematch up with the colours on the handles of the rocks. The numbers in the middle of the board are the points. The numbers above and below the board are the ends (rounds) that the points were scored. So using the score board above yellow got 3 point in the first end, then red got 1 point in the second end and another point in the third end, so the score is 3 to 2 infavor of yellow. rings
So how do you score? Well that is just as easy. If you take a look at the ring to the left you will see 4 rocks (yellow and red) that have been thrown. To score points you want to have more rocks closer to the center of the rings than the other team. As you can see red has a rock the closest to the center of the rings, so red has scored 1 point. One question a beginner will usually ask is, " yellows rock 1 is closer than reds rock 2, so doesn't yellow get a point as well?". The answer is no, since reds rock 4 is closer than all of the yellow rocks, therefore red is the only team to get a point. Since yellow has a rock closer than reds rock 2 the red rock is eliminated.
