Curling is as much a game of etiquette as it is a game of skill. Curling is not like hockey or basketball where you get a lot of trash talking or trying to get into your opponents mind. It is more a gentlemans game, where any rudeness is not tolerated. Here are a few guide lines to think about when playing.
- Don't be late. If for an unavoidable reason you will be late, let your skip know as soon as possible.
- If you cannot be there it is your responsibility to arrange a spare and let your skip know.
- To keep ice surface clean always make sure footwear is clean.
- No smoking or alcohol on the ice.
- Bring up opponents rock to be delivered after you, unless instructed otherwise.
- Always be ready to throw when it is your turn.
- Do not walk or run across the ice when a player is in the hack.
- Be ready to sweep your teammate's stone.
- Be quick to compliment good shots on either side.
- Shake hands at the beginning and finish of each game.
