Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon ~ more than just an awesome martial arts movie, it also has strong themes of love and loyalty Dances with Wolves ~ a Civil War hero (Kevin Costner) finds kinship and love with a Native American tribe Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Ever After ~ a twist on the Cinderella fairy tale (with Drew Barrymore) Fantasia 2000 ~ Disney's 7 short animations set to classical music -- very cool FAHRENHEIT 9/11 ~ EVERYONE GO SEE THIS! MOORE EXPOSES TRUTHS ABOUT BUSH & IRAQ! Forrest Gump ~ travel through american history through the eyes of Forrest Gump (w/ Tom Hanks) Frida ~ the life and love of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo (w/ Salma Hayek) Gandhi ~ life story of Mahatma Gandhi.. very educational, entertaining , and inspiring Good Will Hunting ~ great story w/ Matt Damon, Robin Williams, Minnie Driver Green Dragon ~ story of Vietnamese refugee life at Camp Pendleton, USA (where I was born) The Green Mile ~ dramatic adaptation of a Stephen King novel Himalaya ~ the journey of Himalayan people through the mountains and their intense strength and spirit Heaven & Earth ~ the life story of a Vietnamese woman before, during, and after the Vietnam war The Hours ~ best movie I've seen in a long time (Oscars for all!) -- inspires fully living in the present moment Joy Luck Club ~ emotional tale of 4 Chinese-American women & their mothers K-PAX ~ very interesting and thought-provoking movie! Kundun ~ the true life story of the Dalai Lama and the oppression of Tibet The Last Samurai ~ tom cruise looks mighty nice in the traditional japanese samurai outfits.... ;) Last of the Mohicans ~ great movie about life and love during a Native American war (Daniel Day-Lewis) Leaving Las Vegas ~ a non-typical love story between a prostitute and alcoholic Legends of the Fall ~ epic WWI story of 3 brothers in Montana and their struggles and triumphs ~ strong themes of family loyalty and romantic love. Monster's Ball ~ one of the best movies of 2001.. great performances by Thornton & Berry Monsoon Wedding ~ humorous and dramatic look at a wedding set in present-day India Monsieur Ibrahim ~ friendship b/n a Jewish boy and an older Muslim shopkeeper My Big Fat Greek Wedding ~ very funny romantic comedy -- true to life Mulan ~ very funny and inspiring Disney movie set in China Nowhere in Africa Requiem for a Dream ~ a fresh style of film-making portraying dreams shattered by drug addiction Romeo & Juliet ~ modern interpretation of Shakespeare's classic w/ Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes (one of my favorite actresses) Selena ~ the biography of late Mexican-American singer Selena -- great performance by JLo Siddhartha ~ great adaptation of Herman Hesse's novel -- one man's search for the meaning of life Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring ~ beautiful, captivating Buddhist parable Star Wars (episodes 1, 2, 4, 5, 6) ~ finally watched the entire series and i truly see what the hype is all about... LOVED IT! can't wait for episode 3. Titanic ~ didn't care for the vivid depictions of the sinking ship, but i loved the acting performances of Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in their love story. Waking Life ~ great movie with unique animation over real actors -- explores and contemplates many aspects of life, dreams, reality -- so much to ponder after the movie. even better the 2nd time.
