| As Principal of Healthcare Tech Consulting based in San Diego, California, Linda Travis Macomber RN BSN MBA assists physicians, nurses, allied health care practitioners, educators, healthcare IT vendors, and organizations to optimize performance by effectively adopting innovative information technology into day-to-day practice. For over 27 years, Linda has focused on health IT, EHR, nursing/clinical informatics, and technology-enabled workflow/quality improvement having managed large multi-partner initiatives from vendor, health care delivery, and national consulting firm perspectives. Previous roles have included EHR Project Manager for community clinics, Clinical Informatics Analyst for a pediatric hospital and health center, and Manager of Nursing Systems for a university health system. Other experiences have included healthcare consulting for IBM, Healthlink, SAIC, Kaiser Permanente, NIH, and the Department of Defense. Linda has served as project manager for numerous process and quality improvement projects over-seeing: requirements, system selection, specifications, design, planning, development, document preparation, site/workflow analysis, regulatory compliance, education, benefits realization, return on investment, and optimization. Prior to her informatics career, she also worked on the front lines of healthcare as a pediatric nurse in both med/surg and intensive care. Linda is on the advisory board of the Medical Records Institute and also serves as chair for the Davies award committee. With numerous presentations and publications to her credit including speaking engagements in Finland, South Africa, and at national conferences including TEPR and HIMSS, her academic background includes a bachelor of science in nursing degree from the University of Michigan, an MBA from Northeastern University, and teaching/curriculum development experience while on the faculty for University of Phoenix.
