The Mysteries of Cybele
24 x 43” Acrylic on Canvas board

Figure of Cybele worshipper. In Pre-Christian Asia Minor Cybele was the focus of a significant and far-reaching religion. Ecstatic celebrations of this goddess included the music of the tympanum (a large tambourine), flute and cymbals. The tympanum here is inscribed with archaic Greek script meaning “belonging to Cybele”.
