Linda Hadfield is a freelance researcher, writer and desk-top publisher. She has worked in the IT industry, as a mainframe programmer, systems analyst and operational research analyst; in academia, as research student and research officer; and as a consultant in the local government and charitable sectors. Originally from Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, she has lived most of her life in the Bedford area, apart from four years in the USA (Dallas, Texas) and student days in Southampton.
She is the UK representative to the EU-funded RAISE and Move Together Citizens' Panel, a group of citizens representing all the countries of the EU, who met initally in autumn 2005 to review EU research on sustainable cities, and presented a decalaration to the European Parliament and Commission in December 2005. The Citizens' Panel has since reconvened in Autumn 2007, and a slightly extended and reconstituted version met in 2008 to review research on urban transport for the Move Together project.
She is a member of the editorial board of the Interdisciplinary Environmental Review, and a steering group member of the Environmental Justice and Global Citizenship strand of Inter-disciplinary.net.
