TENTH GENERATION

920. Thomas MERRICK ⁽³⁶⁰⁾ was born in 1620 in St. David, Pembroke, Wales. He died on 7 Sep 1704 in Springfield, MA. He came to America in 1636 with his three brothers and a sister, Sarah Mirick, who married John Atkinson at Newburg in 1646. He lived in Roxburg (1636), Hartford, CT (1638), and in Agawan (now Springfield, MA) which was purchased from the Indians. Thomas Mirack is one of the thirteen settlers of Agawan.
January 3th, 1638 "It is agreed by ye Plantation at a generall meeting that these sex men undernamed shall set out the bounds of ye plantation up ye river on both sides of ye river and to marke ye trees for ye clearing of it. Ye persons appoynted ar mr: w. Pyncheon: Johu Burr: Hen: Smith: John Cable: Richard Eveit: Tho: Mirack."
Mirack appears to have been the poorest of the men and was assessed 1 pd., one paid 41 pds.
As one of the founders of Springfield, he was a man of affairs and influence. His name appears 80 times in the records. Between 1640 and 1669 he acquired 96 arces of land.
He is on committees to allot land, deal with the Indians, build the church, survey land, veiw fences, and other public duties. He is the sergeant of the town militia. He was married to Elizabeth TILLEY on 21 Aug 1653 in Springfield, MA.

921. Elizabeth TILLEY. Children were:
