470. John SCOTT emigrated to America in early
to mid 1700's from SC. John Scott came from Northern Ireland with his Scottish
wife. They brought great wealth in money. Though thrift and energy two generations
of the family were wealthy. Part of the estate is still in the hands of grandsons
at Clark's Hill, SC.
John Scott and sons brought with them letters of credit form the King of
Great Britian to the Colonist. Samuel, the eldest son, seemed to be favored
with a grant of land in SC from King George II or III.
The family first settled in GA then crossed the Savannah River to the Carolina
side before the Revolutionary War, and established their homestead at Scott's
Ferry. He emigrated from from Ireland and Scotland. Children were:
