Silent World
She sits in her rocking chair- a faint smile on her face. She's remembering another time- another day-another place. I can only see my mother as she was when I was a girl- Now she's all wrapped up in her own silent world.
I wonder if she thinks of me in her own private way- Does she remember the happy times? It seems like yesterday. Now she is only a shell from the Mother I have known- All the hugs - All the talks- All the sharing - it is gone!
If only I could break through the wall separating her from me- If only I could bring back my Mother as she used to be. Is she as lonely inside as she seems to appear? Do I see at times the tiny glimmer of a tear?
Mother , please come back to me- This plea comes from my heart. Break down the barrier , Mother, thats keeping us apart! I miss the beautiful times we had- The memories that we shared- There were moments in my life, Mother, when you were the only one who cared.
My childhood years - our happy times- Are locked somewhere in memory- And only YOU dear Mother, only you hold the key. I can only see my Mother as she was when I was a girl- Now she's all wrapped up in her own private world.
