Sunlight comes streaking in stealing
the last rays of the day-
That's when the memories come crashing
in - God make them go away!
They come and haunt my dreams in
the blackness of the night-
Shadows that reach for me -
Horrors that I can't fight!
They took away my innocence- all
the shadows lurking there-
Stealing away my childhood-
Hands roaming everywhere!
Lord, take away the memories that
haunt my very soul-
That leave me in a world of my own-
lost...alone...and cold!
These shadows have always followed
me - as a child I ran-
Shadows lurking - always reaching-
Why can't someone understand?
Images in the night - hiding in corners-
waiting for me-
Faces glaring - Shadows pouncing-
That the rest of the world can't see!
Lord, take away these monsters that
invade my very soul-
That creep in the night all around me,
Lord, please release their hold!
They haunt me in my dreams - in
the blackness of the night-
Shadows that reach for me -
Horrors that I can't fight!
